Probably the best showcase of my tech skills. This is a custom built 360 degree immersive lighting system I’ve installed in my house. The whole setup is relatively cheap and can be manufactured to be semi-portable. It shows the two rooms completely decked out with programmable lights. On top of the blinkie blinkies, it has an automatic diffuser hooked up, an animatronic robot, and of course cloud controls.
Animation takes time! How much time? This much time ^
This is one of the first “vlog” videos I ever tried to create. It required me to be mobile and work under uncontrollable conditions. If I were to do anything over, I’d get a better microphone setup.
For those uninformed, Xlights is an open source software which allows for synchronized lights / animatronic shows. I 3D Printed a Glados originally designed by ytec3d. The robot sync up to another open source software called Home Assistant. This allows me to control my HVAC, Blinds, Oil Diffuser (For Smell-O-Vision), Octoprint (For 3D Printing), lights, motion security system, and more. Tutorial to come later. Mickey’s Magic Mix is pretty… subpar as a fireworks show in my opinion, but it has it’s moments. If I had time to frame this shot, I would have picked a better spot with less light pole. I also would have turned off auto-focus. Unfortunately, this was something we just caught on the way out for the night.
